Recipe #6 - Home-made Onion Rings

Recipe #6 - Home-made Onion Rings

Ingredients that I used:
  • 3 Medium Onions
  • 3/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp Paprika
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 3/4 Cup Water
  • Panko / Bread Crumbs
  • Cooking Oil

Procedure

1. Peel the Onions and slice them at about 1/4 inch thick.

2. Separate them gently to get your Onion Rings
3. Remove the clear film in your onion rings.
4. Time to make your batter. First, mix together all the solid ingredients. Flour, Cornstarch, Paprika, Salt, and Pepper
5. Mix them together
6. After mixing, add your Water
7. Mix Thoroughly until the desired batter is achieved.
8. Ready your Bread Crumbs as well
9. Dip an Onion Ring into the batter, then coat it with your bread crumbs
10. Fry your coated Onion Rings. Do it by batch and make sure they don't stick with each other. Ideally you should deepfry them. But since they have identical height and is flat, I decided to fry them in a pan, using less cooking oil. Just don't leave them unattended and flip them a couple of times.
11. Once done cooking, place them on a wire rack, draining the excess oil. Make sure to put a towel below to absorb the excess oil.
12. Continue the process with the rest of your Onion Rings.
13. Done! Add some Ketchup on the side and Enjoy!
